Overview
VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University) is a public university established in 1998 in Belgaum, Karnataka. VTU is one of India’s largest technological universities. VTU has also been approved by AICTE & UGC. Visvesvaraya Technological University has 182 affiliated colleges, 1 constituent college, and 25 autonomous colleges. VTU has four regional centres spread across Belagavi, Bengaluru, Kalaburgai, and Mysuru. It was certified with Grade “B++” by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). VTU is ranked 52nd under the “Engineering” category, 95th under the “Management” category and 92nd in the “Overall” category by NIRF 2023.
VTU popular courses are B.Tech with 23 specializations, M.Tech with 57 specializations, and MBA. Admission to B.Tech programs is determined by the scores in KCET/ COMEDK/ JEE Main, whereas admission to M.Tech is determined on the basis of merit in GATE/ PGCET. Besides this, the university conducts a Research Entrance Test based on which admissions are granted to the Ph.D. applicants.
As per the NIRF Report 2024, VTU median package for M.Tech is INR 5.40 LPA. For MBA, the median package is INR 4.50 LPA. Some of the top recruiters of VTU are HCL, Infosys, HDFC Standard Life Insurance, Indiabulls, Wipro, IBM, etc.
