National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is a publicly-owned national law university offering quality education at a higher level. It was established under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986), notified in the official Gazette in 1987. NLSIU was among the first institutions in India to introduce the five-year integrated law degree programme at the undergraduate level in 1988. The university holds recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Bar Council of India (BCI). NLSIU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and holds an ‘A Grade’ accreditation from NAAC.
