CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was established in 1969 and is rooted in the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara. It is administered by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first Catholic indigenous congregation in India. The university received autonomy from the UGC in 2004 and was declared a Deemed to be University in 2008. With a focus on teaching, research, and service, it offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various disciplines to around 30,000 students. The university has campuses in Bangalore, Pune, and Delhi NCR, fostering a multicultural environment and promoting creative excellence.
